Main Plot - a clean thread.

The Main Opening Plot:

Summary:

Hogwarts was sealed by a spell that Toolbox had cast. (part one, complete)
The cast is lifted as a descendent of a previous headmaster accidentally stumbles upon it waaaay into the future. (part 2, complete)
Toolbox and character apparate to Ministry (changed on 1st June)
Ministry debate on what to do, decide that the school is to reopen.
Since Hogwarts has been closed many wizards are unaware of their magical powers (they have not received their 'letter' yet)
Ministry was worrying that there would be few wizards left - numbers have declined significantly.
They decide to reopen Hogwarts with almost immediate effect after it has been repaired.
The first topic will be the 'opening ceremony' held in the Hogwarts castle. All other role play can commence once that topic has been posted.

The full plot will be written shortly, but just a few pointers before we continue:

Old characters will not have survived. I have advanced the time on so that we are in the year 2150 to discourage old characters from being used again. I am trying to promote some new ideas and originality.
We will be trying to get some base characters up at first - these will include the Hogwarts staff as well as students and miscellaneous beings within the castle. These roles will take priority over any other roles until the role play expands.
The character profile application form will be posted on this board soon for you to prepare your characters.
At first there will be nothing sinister about the goings on in the castle so that we can return to normality as a role playing community. It is best for us to begin character development and get the characters interacting with each other - developing friendships and hatreds of each other's characters!
Although there will be nothing sinister at the first glance, we will have selected a character within the teaching staff at Hogwarts to play the 'bad guy/gal'. There were suggestions of an attractive young lady, and I think that's an excellent idea. We will discuss who will be playing this character soon, although if you are interested do say so!

Excellent! Looks like a nice start - can't wait for the full plot.

Maybe we could have a female student eventually unravel her? If that ever happens. The lady shouldn't be an Umbridge type woman - we have to make sure everyone falls for her!

Well depending on who the character is and the general view of the players who are involved we could create a few romances between this teacher and say a couple of students. After these romances the students act differently, and they are used as weapons - sort of like how Tom Riddle's black book controlled Ginny Weasley.
I would like to get away from the 'everything is good' mindset and actually start to see some day to day problems popping up in the role play, if you understand what I mean Smile

And I agree, everyone should be falling for her or at least have a weak spot for her. When she's introduced in the initial ceremony we'll describe it as 'everyone's jaws dropped and several sets of cutlery could be heard all around the room falling out of student's hands and onto the floor'.

I'll rename & close the old topic so we can refer back to it.

I know it says old characters haven't survived, but if I don't plan on using my old character (William Vincent), could I keep him alive? Because most of Mosden's backstory had to do with being raised by him. If not, then I guess I'll have to rewrite everything.

Is Mosden young or an adult? If he's an adult then William could have had an exceptionally long life and raised Mosden, if not I think it'll need some reworking.
You could always have William as a grandfather/great grandfather who had a fair amount of input into Mosden's life.

I'm trying to move everyone away from their previous characters as much as possible so we can try and create something new, and add our own style to the Harry Potter scene once more Smile

Considering how much time has gone past I don't think that would be a possibility, I'm afraid.

Even if William is his grandfather and he is near the end of his life? I mean it's not like I'm going to bring him back and roleplay him. He's a continent away and too old to really do anything. Plus if I can't, then I'll have to remake Mosden's history, thus his personality.
